Susol – always ready to use
In discussion with podiatrists and FHPs, there is often a reluctance to try single use instruments. Just because the practice may own and run an autoclave doesn’t mean there isn’t a place for single use.
What happens if you’ve a morning of patients booked and the autoclave breaks down? Having a few Susol packs ‘on the shelf’ means you can continue with your list. In the vast majority of cases, the ready-to-use sets will cater for your needs.
As well as the sets, the Susol range offers single wrapped instruments. So, if all you need is a single scalpel handle, then you can use one from a pack of ten sterilised individually wrapped scalpel handles. Some practitioners prefer a no.3 handle to a no.9 handle. No problem – both are available in packs of ten.
When carrying out a redressing, perhaps after a Partial Nail Avulsion, the only instrument required may be a pair of scissors. The Susol dressing scissor is available in packs of ten, individually wrapped and sterile.
In many successful practices, home visits or nursing/residential homes form a part of the services offered. The Susol sets are invaluable in these environments. Each pack contains ten sets, be they the Basic Set, the Nail Care Set or the comprehensive Podiatry Set. Just think of it, all the instrument requirements are there in one box, sterile and ready to go. Many of the practitioners who use Susol for their home visits will leave the pack of 10 in the car and just take one set into each patient.
In a nursing/residential home, taking a full pack of ten sets caters for 10 patients. And each can be guaranteed a sterile set of instruments.
So, we encourage you to consider the advantages of Susol single use instruments. The instruments have all been designed from reusable pattern instruments so will be familiar. The sets are guaranteed sterile (as long as the packaging is undamaged) and will remain so for three years. Each of the Susol sets are very light and easily transportable. And don’t forget, after using them all you need do is to pop them into a Sharps bin. No time-consuming decontamination, no need to autoclave. Job done.
